An informational event on the progress of the innovative remote geothermal system in Arvi was held on Monday, October 13, with the local community embracing this step toward green energy innovation.
Executives of the Minoan Energy Community and SYCHEM S.A. presented to residents the benefits and progress of the geothermal installation developed for the Arvi’s Community Energy Lab, which will meet the area’s energy needs by combining geothermal energy with electricity generation from photovoltaic systems.
Residents from the first 20 households to be connected to the community geothermal network were briefed on the technical aspects of the installation and the significant financial advantages it will bring—witnessing the vision of clean, affordable energy becoming a reality.
Aristotle Tsekouras, Consulting Energy Engineer and Project Execution Manager of Crete Valley for the Minoa Energy Community, George Viskadouros, Research Electrical Engineer from eSynergy and Manager of Photovoltaic Projects, and George Kotsiovelos, Mechanical Engineer and Director of the Energy Department of SYCHEM, responsible for the Arvi Community Energy Structure, jointly stated:
“The new energy model implemented in Arvi will serve as an example for all of Europe. It demonstrates an innovative combination and utilisation of Renewable Energy Sources, ensuring that the benefits return directly to local communities.”
