On 3 February, CRETE VALLEY made its debut at the OCOVA 2026 International Forum in Les Orres, reaching the French Alps. The project coordinator, ICCS-NTUA, presented the initiative with an intervention entitled “Enabling Renewable Energy Valleys via Digital Twins”. The presentation highlighted how data-driven ecological transition, energy autonomy, and community energy labs can help address challenges shared by geographically isolated areas.
Despite their differences, coastal and mountain settlements often face similar constraints due to isolation. This common ground enables the use of comparable digital technologies in both contexts, supporting solutions that are more economically efficient, socially inclusive, and environmentally responsible.
Presenting the project across diverse territorial contexts is key to expanding its outreach and connecting with communities interested in adapting the CRETE VALLEY approach. By sharing experiences beyond the initial pilot areas, we aim to show how renewable energy valleys can be tailored to specific local needs to foster a more sustainable energy future.
